Women's hiking boots Merrell Claypool Sport Mid GTX grey/peach (J500088)
Advantages
They promise to be great
First impression is that the material is a little thin. The toe cap is not made of rubber, but of softer material, a bit like suede. With intensive use in rocky terrain, it may be less durable. The downside. Sole very good on dry terrain (both thickness, hardness vs flexibility and cushioning. In other shoes I had something like this, the heel was very well supported and cushioned, but the midfoot and toes were much worse and after several kilometres I could feel it, in the Merrells I did not feel it) in wet conditions not yet tested.
The great thing is that there is a lot of space above the midfoot, it seems that the leg has no right to rub against the shoe at any point. The ankle support and overall stability of the foot in the shoe is very high despite the amount of space. No problem with thick or thin socks. The tongue, which is sewn into the upper, is a great feature; surprisingly not all gtx boots have it.
We will see after longer use, these are my first shoes from this brand, but I have a feeling they won't be the last.
