Sea to Summit is a brand that traces its roots back to 1983, when Roland Tyson, at just 17 years old, began creating outdoor gear on an old sewing machine in his childhood room. As a young outdoor enthusiast, Roland quickly discovered his passion and talent for creating innovative gear. His design and manufacturing of gear for Australian enthusiasts led to the creation of the Sea to Summit brand in 1991, after a remarkable first ascent of Mt. Everest.
Sea to Summit is not only a story about the origins of the brand, but also about the quest to design the best, lightest and most durable gear. Roland and his partner Penny Sanderson, who joined him in 1993, traveled the world, testing products and refining their design. Penny, with six years of experience at Australian Geographic, brought her passion for exploration and innovation, perfectly complementing Sea to Summit's mission.
The Sea to Summit brand quickly grew into a global brand, succeeding thanks to Penny and Roland's love of travel and design. They continue to manage the company, participating in all stages of the process - from the development of raw materials to the delivery of excellent gear to customers around the world.
