Good goggles with few problems
The manufacturer promises a VLT of 14-74%. I exchanged several emails with Bliz customer service on this issue. I'll admit it was hard to get detailed information but I managed after 10 emails.
I compared the brightening of the goggles with Head Contex 54% and Salomon Sentry Pro 55% and unfortunately for Bliz the multimeter with photoresistor, which I shone a torch on with a tripod while covering the photoresistor with the goggles, showed 260ohm for Head, 270 for Salomon and 265 for Bliz so I think this VLT is slightly over the top. I did the tests after midnight at -5*C. It's a shame because they could have been great goggles for riding all day and in all conditions. That leaves probably only the Julbo 0-4 and the Uvex Downhill 0-4 although I haven't tested both.
The goggles have a single layer glass, i.e. it's probably bonded but there's no classic air void between the two glasses. I tried to fog it up by directing a stream of steam from my mouth onto the goggles with my hand, but the antifog coating managed and there was no problem. The photochromes work well in the sun and mirror and darken quite quickly although, like all photo lenses, it dims faster than it brightens. Using a UV torch I determined that it took about 18-20 minutes for the goggles to return to full brightness. The Salomons needed the least at 10-13min. The goggles have a good curvature, with a larger radius than the Salomon Sentry Pro and similar to the aforementioned Head Contex. Unfortunately they squashed my nose slightly with my current helmet. They didn't fit me.
