I have one go-to shoe for fast workouts—the Asics Magic Speed 5—and no other shoe in this elite category had been able to match it. However, the Mizuno Hyperwarp Pro has finally changed that.
The Mizuno is very similar to the Asics. Both shoes provide a highly responsive ride thanks to advanced midsole materials and a carbon plate, offer a similar fit, are well ventilated, and weigh almost exactly the same.
That said, the Mizuno delivers slightly more propulsion, which is especially noticeable when running uphill. On the other hand, it is less stable on uneven terrain. The Mizuno also provides a bit more room in the forefoot area.
Note: Mizuno sizing runs large. I always buy my Mizuno shoes half a size smaller (EU 44) than my usual size in other brands (EU 44.5).- Jacek
