The cushioning system in Nike shoes. It takes the form of a lightweight gas cushion placed in the midsole along the entire length of the shoe. It provides exceptional comfort and protection for the musculoskeletal system. With Air Max, part of the cushioning extends to the outside of the sole, making it possible to increase the size of the cushioning, as well as giving the shoe an interesting, distinctive design. The gas cushion does not wear out like foam, retaining its properties even after running several hundred kilometres.
