There is a reason why the Patagonia Houdini is regarded as one of the best windcheaters. It performs this function brilliantly, and a little precipitation doesn't scare it either. But the Houdini does not breathe at all. After a few minutes of exertion it gets damp on the inside. I think I would prefer a little less insulation, but a little more breathability.
