For the wife size L is ok but for me, who am thicker in the calf it doesn't fit ( not big enough in diameter). The difference between L and XL( the largest size)is ~1cm in diameter. The length is the same.
The bottom has lace grip and plastic strap under the boot but has no grip in diameter so snow can get in when you step, between the boot and the toe guard.
