Very comfortable from the first time you put them on - they hold the foot well but are not too tight. They fit the standard width of the foot; those with a very wide foot may feel a slight pressure at the front. Size according to the table (true to size).
Great as a versatile training shoe for any trail surface - from soft trails to technical trails. They are also quietly suitable for medium-distance competitions.

Unfortunately, Hoka's sizing is not quite ok. I ordered 38, as usual. When I measure them at home, they seem a bit tight. I check the label, US size: 6.5 - any search shows that the EU equivalent is size 37, never 38. I have to pay the return postage (not much, but still). I ordered another size, checking UK and US sizes. They fit perfectly. Can't wait to ride them outside more - Sofia

I was heavily sceptical, but I have to admit that indeed these shoes are real trail 'cruisers'. Sensational grip, both on rocky trails and on slippery mud. Comfortable and lightweight. After running in other shoes my feet always suffered, especially my nails. These shoes have not let me down. during the entire dogtrekking season. I have found that Hoka really is a great running shoe brand, and the Mafate Speed 4, although not for sprinters and not a beauty to behold, "wings" an amateur like me. As suggested by more experienced runners, I chose a size larger than the 'everyday' walking size.
