TOUGH DIGIGEAR® technology consists of developing and refining the advantages of the already existing DIGIGEAR system. This was done through detailed analysis and experimentation with each component, including the diameter, thickness, shape and size of the gear teeth. All aspects have been thoroughly tested and improved, resulting in a significant increase in the durability of the gearbox.

It has been developed by Daiwa as a new super-composite material to enhance the performance of lightweight and robust reels. It is comparably lightweight to Zaion, but much stiffer and more resistant to stress than DS5 and DS4 materials. Its mechanical properties allow the creation of reel bodies and rotors that are lighter than DS5 and DS4, allowing the internal mechanisms to work better, providing smoother operation and better resistance to fatigue.

ATD™ technology is a state-of-the-art system that uses special discs soaked in a specialised lubricant. This ensures optimum use of energy, increasing the grinding power at the start and providing a stable and gradual brake action. It minimises the risk of breaking during the fight with the fish, adapting to each phase of the fight. It reacts more quickly and progressively to the initial escapes of the fish, and provides a stronger hold in the middle phase, which is crucial when turning up.
