Giro

The history of the Italian brand Giro is more than 30 years old, and its founder is Jim Gentes, a “man obsessed” with designing and responding to the unmet needs of cycling enthusiasts. The company asserts that: “As long as you strive to be faster, bigger and better, we will produce the equipment that will get you there.”

Attention to the smallest detail is one of Giro's key differentiators. From the affordable road helmet, to the fit and material of the shirts, to the click that the Switchblade makes when the chinbar works.

In 1985, the first Advantage™ helmet was created and designed for triathletes; two years later at the Tour de France, a young American pioneering new aerodynamic equipment (including the Aerohead™ helmet) wins the three-week race by eight seconds; and in 1992, the brand creates a modular water bottle with a wide opening for the cap (a “pop-top” bottle) that becomes a cycling icon.

The Italian manufacturer also has such breakthroughs as the Roc Loc® adjustment knob to improve helmet stability when riding over roots and rocks, a full-face modular helmet for freeriders, a lightweight ski helmet with vents, ski goggles with the Manifes™ lens replacement system, cycling shoes distinguished by their fit, comfort and adaptability, or the Aether MIPS helmet with an airy, open design and MIPS Spherical technology to give cyclists better head protection.

Nowadays, Giro is not only helmets, but also specialized cycling shoes, functional cycling apparel for men, women and children, and accessories such as MTBcycling goggles, gloves, bidons or caps.
