Off-road running shoes - choose comfort and reliability at the Sportano shop Are you an off-road running enthusiast, or are you just starting out on your running adventure? Regardless of your level, the right outfit and footwear is essential if you want to ensure you can move comfortably and prevent injuries from occurring. If you prefer to run on uneven, off-road ground, choose trail running shoes. They guarantee adequate grip to the ground and stability in all conditions. At Sportano.com we offer a wide selection of good trail running shoes from proven brands such as Salomon, Vibram, HOKA ONE ONE, ON or Mizuno. Trail running shoes - construction, membranes and properties When choosing the right trail running shoes, look at the tread, which varies depending on the type of shoe. The basic division of shoes is the type of running conditions - asphalt, pavement or off-road trails. Trail shoes (a.k.a. just off-road running shoes) have an aggressive tread, i.e. longer, rubber tabs that aid grip. In addition, footwear with such tread performs much better in slippery terrain such as mud or snow.
In addition, the footwear must be characterised by good cushioning, which is most often located in the midsole. It is responsible for shock absorption during contact with the ground and also for the dynamics of the kick. Cushioning is usually applied through cushions, gel elements, air or foam capsules or springs.
Off-road running shoes also have an upper made of a slightly thicker material than asphalt running shoes, where hard-surface models use mesh that is as breathable as possible. The most common material used is mesh, which is resistant to damage, but unfortunately does not offer protection from the rain. If you're looking for waterproof shoes, choose a model with a GORE-TEX® membrane or other similar layers such as DWR, a technology that makes water run off the surface of the material. Off-road running shoes - can you run on tarmac in them? The right running shoes should be chosen for the terrain you intend to run on. Footwear designed for running on asphalt is much better cushioned, more breathable and has a flat tread. Off-road running shoes, on the other hand, provide more grip due to the deep tread, are sometimes much less breathable because they have waterproof membranes (example: gore tex off-road running shoes), and have less cushioning. As a result, rough terrain running shoes need to be able to withstand adverse conditions and perform well on uneven ground. Tarmac running shoes are much more breathable and designed to absorb shock and cushion the feet well when they come into contact with hard ground.Choosing the best off-road running shoes When choosing running shoes for slick or soft ground, it is advisable to opt for a model with an aggressive tread. The sole should have the appropriate tabs to guarantee grip on the ground. On the other hand, for steeper and rockier ground, it is advisable to choose a medium stiff sole to improve stability. In addition, match your footwear to the distances covered, where for distances under 15 km, lightweight and breathable shoes are best. For medium distances up to 50 km, shoes with enhanced cushioning will work well.
Off-road running shoes should also be slightly larger, preferably by half a size, to ensure you can move comfortably. To do this, it's a good idea to carefully measure the length of the insole and then compare the results with the manufacturer's specifications.
The use of membranes and modern waterproof technologies will work well when you choose outdoor running shoes for winter, where there is mud, water and snow. Then, in addition to adequate cushioning, the footwear must protect against water and dirt entering the upper. Outdoor running shoe brands you should bet on In the Sportano shop you will find the best outdoor running shoes, which are made of durable materials that are resistant to mechanical damage. They provide adequate grip and stability. We offer women's trail running shoes and men's trail running shoes from renowned brands such as Salomon, Vibram, HOKA ONE ONE, ON or Mizuno.
